Get Started with Enrollment Management

Goal

The Kalamazoo Valley Community College Enrollment Management team needed a designated portion of the website for potential students. The Valley Viewbook would be tied to these pages as it is used by the Enrollment Team to advertise to them.

There are several types of students that Valley accepts and each type has their own checklist to become enrolled and registered for classes.

Campus visits and tours needed to be featured as Kalamazoo Valley Community College has multiple campuses with several buildings.

Approach

I was brought in towards the end stages of the Valley Viewbook to use as a jumping off point to make sure branding was consistent with what the Marketing team had designed.

The Enrollment Management and Marketing team gave me several examples of what they were looking for and what the content would look like.

Execution

After consulting with the rest of the Web Application & Development team, we decided that using Hugo to create these pages was the best option as there were several pages with one layout making development more efficient and straight-forward.

Challenges

The amount of content that was supplied to these pages depended on many departments throughout the college. A lot of back and forth and content combing was necessary to make sure everything was up to date and correct. Using Hugo was very effective as updating content was straight-forward and easy using markdown.
